CUJ biennial confce today
Transparency International of Bangladesh (TIB) Chief Prof Mozaffer Ahmed will attend the conference as chief guest.
Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) President Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury and Secretary General Monjurul Ahsan Bulbul, Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) President Altaf Mahmud and other senior leaders are expected to be present at the function.
Meanwhile, the CUJ will stage a demonstration with black flags protesting the Chittagong-tour of Bangladesh Press Council Chairman Justice Abu Saeed Ahmad this morning. They will observe the programme at 9.00am in front of Chittagong Circuit House, where he is scheduled to attend a seminar on 'Human rights and policies for journalism'.
The CUJ has taken up the programme as Justice Saeed took a move to formulate a black law to abase freedom of journalism, said a press release.
The biennial election of CUJ will be held tomorrow.
Polling will take place from 9.00am to 4.00pm with one hour break from 1.00pm.
A total of 197 voters will exercise their franchise to elect new executive committee for next two years (2006-2007).
