Two killed in road accidents
BDNEWS from Nawabganj reports: One person was killed and four others, including two children, were injured in a road accident at Panalia on the Dhaka-Bandura highway in Nawabganj upazila under Dhaka yesterday.
Witnesses and police said a rickshaw passenger China Begum, 35, died on the spot as a speeding bus hit her rickshaw from behind at around 10:00am.
The injured Sufia, 12, Sagar, 5, Sohan, 3, were accompanying her. The rickshawpuller Shafiullah was also injured.
The agitated mob seized the bus and its driver and handed them over to police.
Our Gaibandha correspondent adds: A woman was killed and nine others sustained injuries in two road accidents in Gaibandha yesterday.
A speeding truck from Bogra hit one Shilpi Begum, 28, while she was crossing the highway at Kalitola police box point, leaving her dead on the spot. The truck managed to flee soon after the incident.
Meanwhile, nine people were injured when a loaded truck hit a motorcycle at Indererpar on Gaibandha-Shaghata Road. Of the injured, five were admitted to a local clinic in critical condition.
