Abducted Kushtia BNP cadre found dead

Police yesterday recovered the body of a cadre of ruling Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) from the river Padma after a day of his abduction in the district.

The dead was identified as Shamimuddin, a BNP cadre, of village Jotswar of Bheramara upazila.

Police said a gang of unidentified criminals stormed into the house of Shamim

and abducted him at gunpoint at about 2:00pm.

The gang slaughtered him and threw the body at the river Padma on the night, police said.

The gang informed about his body to Shamim's family over phone yesterday, police said.

Police recovered his body and sent it to Kushtia General Hospital for autopsy.

Local BNP blamed main opposition Awami League for this killing, which Awami League denied.
