Alarmed by militants' threat to blow up educational institutions, State Minister for Education ANM Ehsanul Haq Milon yesterday urged teachers and guardians to remain watchful and inform police if anyone found roaming around any educational institution suspiciously.

"It is not possible to check terror attacks only by setting up close circuit camera or by police alone. Make your eyes close circuit camera and help arrest criminals," he told the prize giving ceremony of Little Flowers' Preparatory School at Pallabi in the city.

Terming Mirpur-Pallabi as a densely populated area, Milon said militants may hide in such area.

He also asked the local residents to remain alert in renting out houses to unknown people.

Earlier Miah Abdul Hakim, headmaster of the school, spoke about the outstanding results of the institution in public and scholarship examinations and other extra-curriculum activities.

He said the success rate in public examinations is 100 percent.

Impressed by the outstanding results, the state minister assured the teachers and guardians of the school of its inclusion in Monthly Pay Order (MPO) and removing its other problems.

"Mirpur lacks quality schools despite huge population density. So, I'll do whatever necessary to turn the school a good one," he added.

School Governing Body Chairman Sarwarjan Miah and local dignitaries were present at the function.
