BJP expels Uma Bharati
BJP spokesman Arun Jaitley told media persons here on Monday that the party expelled 46-year-old Bharati, a backward caste mass leader of the party from the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, for "indiscipline". He accused her of using language that did not represent "dignified politics."
Bharati had been having a stand-off with BJP leadership for more than a year and it escalated when the party decided to nominate Shivraj Singh Chouhan as Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, setting off strong protests from her and her supporters last week. She claimed she was not consulted on the choice of Chouhan and the decision of party leadership was "undemocratic".
