JCD factions clash at Ctg polytech: 5 injured
At least five activists were injured when two rival groups of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) clashed over hegemony of a residential hall at Chittagong Polytechnic Institute in the early hours of yesterday.
The injured were identified as Ahsan, Abdur Rahman, Ashraf Uddin, Ibrahim and Abdus Shukkur, who all belong to former state minister Mir Nasir group, sources said.
They said some activists of Nasir group at around 12:30 midnight went to one of the three halls of Polytechnic to capture it but they faced strong resistance from minister Abdullah Al Noman group that ensued a clash between them. Both groups were locked in fighting with hockey and bamboo sticks.
At one stage, Noman group drove Nasir group away.
