The discussion on 'Safe Migration of Women' was organised by the Association of Repatriated Bangladeshi Employees (Warbe) prior to the launch of a docudrama titled 'Shuvojatra' (Safe Migration) at the British Council auditorium in the city.

The speakers said female migrants are subjected to exploitation because of cultural and language differences.

They said there is also the risk of being deceived by the middlemen and agents of recruiting agencies.

Speaking as chief guest Dr Hamida Hossain, a human rights activist and committee member of Warbe, called for health insurance and saving insurance for female migrant workers.

She also urged the welfare organisations like Warbe to be united with other migrant organisations of the world to strengthen their activities.

Presided over by Warbe Chairman Syed Saiful Haq, the discussion was also addressed by Programme Co-ordinator of United Nations Development Fund for Women Gule Afroz Mahbub, Representative of American Centre for International Labour Solidarity Rob Ways and Director of British Council Dr June Rollinson.

Warbe Vice-president Masud Parvez presented a keynote paper at the discussion which was participated by the members of different women's rights organisations.
