5 Chhatra Samaj men beaten at DU
The incident took place when the JCS activists tried to bring out a procession on the campus. Workers of left-leaning students chased and attacked them.
The injured were identified as Monir, Abdur Rahman, Jakir and Monir.
The JCS also tried to bring out procession on the campus on Sunday for the first time in last one and a half decade, which was foiled by Bangladesh Chhatra Union.
The Paribesh Parishad, a DU body comprising representatives of all the student organisations and members of the university proctor office, banned the JCS and the ruling Jamaat-e-Islami's student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir on the campus in 1990.
Since then the JCS did not make any attempt to undertake any political programme publicly on the campus.
Witnesses said some 20 to 25 leaders and activists of JCS went to Modhu's Canteen to meet with Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leaders at around 1:00pm, but JCD General Secretary Shafiul Bari Babu told them to leave the campus.
While the JCS activists were returning from Modhu's canteen, the JSD Chhatra League, Bangladesh Chhatra Union and Biplobi Chhatra Maitree leaders and activist chased and beat them up.
