Hotels, food factories fined Tk 9.33 lakh
The courts also filed 198 cases under Motor Vehicle Ordinance Act, BSTI Act, Standard Food Act, DMP Act and Environmental Act, says a press release.
During a raid on Bhai Bhai Hotel and Pubali Hotel at Shyampur, Magistrate Rahul Amin found that they were selling rotten and adulterated food. The hotels were fined Tk 30,000 and 40,000 respectively.
Another mobile court fined the City Flour Mill at Kotwali Tk 60,000 for selling packets of adulterated wheat and maize. The packets contains ingredients, which are used as animal food.
At Mirpur, Magistrate Khalilur Rahman's team raided Chokladar Variety Store and found that has been selling ammonia illegally. The store was fined Tk 10,000.
In another drive, Magistrate Akbar Hossain fined Mohammad Ali Semai Factory Tk 20,000 for producing vermicelli in an unhygienic environment.
