2 SCF leaders injured in Shibir attack on CU campus

Witnesses said Shibir activists attacked and beat up Md Zamir Uddin Russell and Prolin Chakma with iron rods at Katapahar at around 9:45am when they were going to their classroom.

Russell was admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) with injuries in his head while Prolin was released after first aid treatment.

SCF General Secretary Kanchan Sarker said the Shibir men were trying to prevent his organisation from waging its planned movement against the university authorities' decision to raise the price of admission form.

"We have informed the vice-chancellor and the proctor of the incident immediately and they assured us of taking necessary steps in this regard," he said.

He also threatened to launch a tougher movement if the authorities fail to take action against the persons responsible without delay.
