40 houses, valuables worth Tk 1.5 lakh gutted in Chittagong
At least 40 tin-shed houses and valuables worth around Tk 1.5 lakh were gutted in a fire at South Kattali of Pahartali area in the port city yesterday.
Fire brigade sources said the fire broke out at a tin-shed house of Sirajul Islam at Jaliapara of South Kattali at noon. It soon engulfed the entire area.
The reason of fire could not be known immediately.
Four fire fighting units from nearby fire station rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire in two hours.
Fire service sources estimated the extent of damage at Tk 1.5 lakh and claimed that they recovered valuables worth Tk 2 lakh.
