BSF picks up 3 Bangladeshis, BDR detains 10 Indians

Sources said the BSF men called and took away Abdul Malek, 35, Wahid Miah, 20, and Abdul Alim, 25, hailing from Protappur village under Gowainghat upazila at about 4:00pm without any provocation.

Padua, although a village of Bangladesh, had been under Indian occupation for long.

BSF alleged that the Bangladeshi nationals had intruded into the Indian territory.

While the BDR men were on patrol along the borders at about 5:30pm they caught ten Indians Bir Dash, Ratan Santal, Binoy Karmaker, Chandan Khetlal, Ukil Karmaker, Ananta Layek, Shaminee Nath, Salil Suthey,

Roju Chasha, and Patal Goala for illegal entry into Bangladesh territory.

All the Indians, who hailed from Padua village, admitted that they had entered Bangladesh territory for buying some household things from Radhanagar bazar.

They had been kept at Protappur border outpost.

Both BDR and BSF at a flag meeting yesterday agreed to free all the men soon.
