Troyee: an offbeat accounting solution

Commercially launched in November 2004, the software has earned the attention of 25 companies including Rangs, Jalalabad Telecom and Aviation Management System (BD) Ltd. This was announced at a press briefing by 3BL on September 14 at the meeting room of IDB Bhaban in Agargaon.
The software has been built on visual basic at the front end and SQL 2000 server at the back end with support from Crystal Reports used for layout preparations and financial reports.
Moreover the flexibility lies in its configuration, which is customisable to the organisations' desire and soon 3BL hopes to insert Crystal Reports itself so that users could customise their layouts at their convenience.
From a user's perspective this software should not be of any trouble as the designed interface give a matured understanding. Therefore entering data and later on generating reports should not be of any hassle. Furthermore, users can customise their voucher, invoice, and other accounting templates for individuality.
"We have initially priced our software package at Taka 12,000 for single user and Taka 50,000 for multiple users if paid at once but an option for installment based payment has also been opened, which would raise the price to Taka 15,000 for single user and Taka 60,000 for multiple users", said Tofazzal Hossain Mollah, chairman, 3BL.
"Considering our local market affordability, consumption and requirements, the price we have set is quite reasonable and within reach if it is compared to similar foreign software products", he added.
"The price for the software is verily undermined if the effort is considered behind developing such projects in commercial grounds", said a computer science and engineering student who was present at the briefing.
"Our target is to increase the number of clients to five hundred within a year", said Uttam Kumar Paul, managing director, 3BL.
As the software has been built on Windows platform, Troyee does not support Linux at this very moment, which can be a matter to think about before implementation as this operating system is also widely in use.
When asked about the speed of the software once it holds a huge number of data, Paul said that from their own study and experience with the software available in the local market, they have witnessed none of them could retain the speed of data loading and transferring as entries increased, but experimenting Troyee did not disappoint them in terms of speed, which has been termed as unparalleled first rate speed.
