Staff Correspondent, Ctg
Police yesterday started quizzing the two cops, who were caught in the act of looting, after taking them on a three-day remand.

Constables Shahid and Bashir along with some others intercepted two vehicles of Starship Company and Ibn Sina Pharmaceuticals Ltd and tried to loot their sale proceeds at Kaptai Road intersection around 10:00pm on Wednesday.

The two cops of Madunaghat Camp in Hathazari upazila were captured in the act of looting by the locals and handed over to the Chandgaon Police Station.

Chandgaon Police Station took them into their custody after hundreds of people rushed to the police station and encircled it hearing a rumour that the cops were being released.

Didarul Alam regional general manager of Ibn Sina Pharma-ceuticals Ltd filed a case under section four of the Speedy Trial Act against the two cops yesterday morning.

Chandgaon Police Station produced them before the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Akram Hossain with a five-day remand prayer. The court granted remand for three days.

District Superintendent of Police (SP) Aftabuddin Ahmad assigned an Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), an ASP Circle and the officer-in-charge of Hathazari Police Station to the probe of the incident. They would submit separate reports of their enquiry to the SP.

Sources said at least 15 to 20 people including plain-clothes police were involved in the incident but all except Shahid and Bashir escaped and the authority is not trying to arrest them.
