NUS meet to combat trafficking

Nari Unnayan Shakti (NUS), an NGO, organised a 'Divisional level advocacy meeting to combat trafficking in children' at its training centre at Rampura in the city on August 16, says a press release.

Syed Shujauddin Ahmed, secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, was present as the chief guest while Khandaker Rashedul Haque, joint secretary, Ministry of Finance, Nurun Nabi Khan, programme officer of the ILO, Noor Mahmud, national programme officer of the UNFPA, were special guests.

Afroja Parvin, executive director of Nari Unnayan Shakti, presided over the meeting. Some 20 victims of trafficking were also present.

Saleha (not her real name), a victim who was rescued by the NUS, described her case study at the beginning of the meeting.
