CityCell Journalism Award introduced

"CityCell has instituted this award with a view to honouring journalists for their talents, dedication and hard work," Intikhab Mahmood, head of Sales and Marketing of PBTL, said at a press briefing in the city yesterday.
In spite of various limitations, journalists in the country have earned people's respect and confidence, he said. The fact that an editor has won an international prize reflects this respect and confidence, he added.
He also paid homage to the great journalists including Mawlana Akram Khan, Tofazzal Hossain Manik Miah, Abul Mansur Ahmad, Abul Kalam Shamsuddin, Abdus Salam and Zahur Hossain Chowdhury.
The award will be given for both print and electronic media. For print media, the prize categories are development, entertainment, crime reporting, regional journalism, sports journalism, health, science and technology and photo journalism.
The categories for electronic media are entertainment, crime reporting, development and sports.
Each award carries Tk 50,000 for, a crest and a certificate. Forty percent of the award money will go the TV cameraman concerned for the winning TV entry.
Interested journalists can submit the reports published in newspapers or broadcast on television between January 1 to December 31 of this year for the award.
Channel i is the media partner for the event. Faridur Reza Sagar, managing director of Channel i, also spoke on the occasion.
