Police yesterday recovered the body of a businessman 12 hours after he was abducted from Alamdanga upazila in Chuadanga on Saturday.

Chuadanga police said criminals kidnapped Amanullah Biplab, 32, an umbrella shop owner at Alamdanga Bazar at 9:00pm. He was returning to his house at Sanatanpur village in Alamdanga.

Locals found the body on Kathuli field at around 8:00am and informed the police.

Family sources said the murder is a sequel to denying extortionists' demand for toll. A local gang demanded Tk 50,000 from Biplab last month.

As many as 47 people, mostly businessmen, have been kidnapped in the district this year.

Fourteen of them were killed, six are still missing and the rest have bought their freedom.
