Make budget pro-people
"A budget presented before the parliament cannot be rejected. The main opposition party has rejected it. But we don't reject the budget," Ershad said this while he was addressing a presidium meeting at the party's Banani office.
He, however, suggested that the "anti-people provisions" contained in the budget must be amended and made a pro-people one before passing in parliament.
Ershad termed the new budget a highly ambitious one and said it will be difficult to implement the targets. He said the government had presented a pro-election budget as done by all governments. But the budget contained some provisions which go against the public interest, he added.
Kazi Zafar Ahmed, ABM Ruhul Amin Hawlader, MA Sattar, Razia Fayez, Dr TIM Fazle Rabbi Chowdhury MP, GM Quader MP, Hafiz Uddin Ahmed MP, Golam Habib MP, were present at the meeting.
The JP meeting formed a five-member sub-committee to prepare a detailed report on the budget for submission to the party's chairman within two days.
