2 women stabbed to death in Cox's Bazar

Police and witnesses said Shamsul Alam of Maheshkhalipara along with his father Mojaher Sikder and other members of his family stabbed his brother's wife Majeda Begum and mother-in-law Minara Khatun following an altercation, killing Minara on the spot.

Majeda succumbed to her injuries in Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital.

Family sources said Minara Khatun was staying at the house of Majeda Begum to look after her as Majeda's husband was in jail.

Earlier, Minara filed a case against the relatives of Farid Ahmed, husband of Majeda, following a quarrel with them.

Shamsul Alam and Mojaher had altercation with Majeda and Minara yesterday morning. At one stage, they stabbed them indiscriminately.

Police could not arrest the killers till filing of this report.
