Fix rate of fees for notaries

"Notary functions are now being done by a group of cheats, frauds, brokers and smugglers in place of government employed notary staff. That is why, the genuine and legal notaries and consumers are being seriously suffered," BNPA President Azharul Islam said at a press conference yesterday.

Reading out a written statement at the National Press Club, he said the notary sector will seriously be hampered if effective measures are not taken immediately.

The BNPA urged the Ministry of Law to disclose the list of legal notary publics and their addresses in January every year and to take legal action against the holders of fake notary public's signboards.

The BNPA leaders urged all legal notaries to be united to protect their professional transparency and dignity.

BNPA leaders Mamtajuddin Ahmed, Gazi Amin Ullah, Abu Musa and Abul Mansur Milky were also present at the press conference.
