Youth gets 14 years' RI for throwing acid
A Bogra court yesterday sentenced a youth to 14 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Tk 2000, in default to suffer two more years, for throwing acid on his classmate.
Under Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-1, the court gave the judgement as Makfurul Islam Shahi threw acid on Farhana Sultana Shampa, an HSC student of Bogra Cantonment Public School and College on May 7 in 1998.
Father of the victim Mahbubul Alam of Malati Nagar filed the case against Shahi under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
