DBBL awards scholarships to 126 students

Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr Salehuddin Ahmed gave away the Scholarship Awarding Letters to the recipients as chief guest at a simple ceremony at Osmani Memorial auditorium in the city. DBBL Managing Director Md Yeasin Ali presided.

Dr Salehuddin in his speech lauded the scholarship programme and recalled other philanthropic activities of the bank.

He said it will inspire other corporate bodies to come forward with such a programme that will eventually benefit the society at large. He also congratulated the students who got the scholarship.

Md Yeasin Ali in his address said that DBBL in its regular financial activities, always reaches to the destitute of the country by way of carrying out a wide range of philanthropic activities. The bank has awarded scholarships to 500 students and the total number will be 1250 in 2007 and the bank will need Tk 4 crore a year, he added.

Shahadand Hossain and Nuzhat Mansur, recipients of scholarships, also spoke. Dr Mozammel Hossain Khan, Coordinator, Dutch-Bangla Bank Foundation, extended vote of thanks.
