RU teacher assaulted by Shibir cadres

The ICS men were demanding withdrawal of a criminal case filed against them, sources said.

The ICS cadres, led by RU ICS General Secretary Rokon Uddin, burst into the office of Prof Zahid Hassan Milky and started abusing him.

They kept him under lock and key for an hour and threatened him of tougher movement unless the authority withdraws the case against 16 ICS men within 24 hours.

Hasan Ali, father of Milon, filed the case after the ICS men had blamed Milon for stealing a student's cell phone and burnt his motorcycle on May 21.

The plaintiff alleged in the case that the ICS men beat up Milon, 34, in Motihar thana and set fire on his motorbike in front of Habibur Rahman hall.

On May 26, Shoaib Ullah, an ICS worker, filed a counter case against Milon for stealing the mobile phone with Motihar thana.

ICS leaders said Milky assured them of taking action against Milon, but instead, he encouraged Milon's father to file the case against the ICS men.

Tension has been prevailing on the campus and extra police force was deployed.

Meanwhile, the RU student advisor confirmed the report and said, "ICS leader Rokon misbehaved with me".

Rokon, however, denied any harsh attitude towards Milky.
