'Qualified faculty a must for a quality varsity'

Qualified faculty, effective management, quality of students and appropriate infrastructures are essential for a quality university, said Prof Monirul Hoque, member of the University Grants Commission.

He said this while speaking as a chief guest at a reception ceremony in the city recently.

East West University (EWU) accorded the reception to its new students of the Spring semester.

He also expressed his satisfaction over the progress and potentials of the EWU and thanked the authorities for their efforts in ensuring quality of education.

Meanwhile, the orientation ceremony for the fresher of summer semester was held on Thursday.

Unilever Bangladesh Ltd Chairman and Managing Director Sanjib Mehta, speaking as the chief guest at the orientation, urged the students to work with passion.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Mohammed Farashuddin, president of the EWU Board of Governors, urged the students to make the best use of the facilities offered by his university.

EWU Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Mohammad Musa, Business and Economics Faculty Dean Prof Abdul Mannan, Faculty of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences Dean Prof Fakrul Alam, Faculty of Sciences and Engineering Dean Prof Mozammel Huq, Faculty of Business and Economics Dean Prof Abdul Mannan and Registrar Firdaus Ali spoke on the occasions among others.
