Helpline to protect journalists

Under this programme, BCDJC will extend emergency services, medical treatment, rehabilitation and legal assistance to the journalists in need.

To qualify for any kind of help under this initiative, the applicant or candidate must be a journalist working for local, regional, national or foreign media.

The applicant has to be under real threats or actual harassment, trouble or danger caused by government or private entity, political cadre, underworld don, mafia or any other perpetrator.

The above situation must be the result of a published report, article, editorial, column or picture to qualify for assistance. Journalistic works like investigation, case-study as well as activities for press freedom and in protecting security of any source of information or news will also fall under this category.

Those who fulfil the above criteria will be covered as the target group and the immediate members of their families or their dependents would also qualify for BCDJC assistance.
