Minister urges WFP to take programme for the Monga-hit
"The programme should be taken jointly under the Food for Work and World Food Programme," he said when a 10-member WFP delegation, led by its Mission Chief Patrick Webb and Country Representative Douglas Casson Coutts, met him at his office in the morning.
Patrick Webb said WFP has taken a plan to implement a five-year special programme in cooperation with the government.
The minister said a vulnerability reduction programme has been taken at a cost of Tk 70 crore for the distressed people of a few districts.
He hoped that the World Food Organisation would take effective measures for taking countrywide special projects under the programme to improve the lifestyle of the char and Monga-hit people.
