AL alleges repression on Keraniganj leaders

The AL leaders also demanded the removal of the officer-in-charge (OC) of the local police station for his alleged involvement in the repression.
BNP activists and the 'terrorist gang' of the local lawmaker have been killing, looting, harassing and repressing the AL activists since 2001, said the leaders at a press conference at the National Press Club.
Giving an account of the tortures and harassment of the party leaders and activists, Convenor Nasrul Hamid Bipu alleged that the OC had implicated them in false cases on different occasions.
Speaking at the press conference, AL Organising Secretary Saber Hossain Chowdhury said, "Keraniganj is not an isolated case, rather each and every thana has turned into torturing camp of the ruling party."
" The law enforcement agencies have become a threat to the people instead of providing them security," he said, adding, "The government is targeting popular public leaders and terminating them."
The AL leaders threatened to launch tougher agitation if their demands are not met immediately.
