Investigating officer (IO) of the case Mahbubur Rahman of Shyampur Police Station identified the gang members as Noor Hossain, Billal Hossain, Delwar Hossain, Abu Hossain, M Siddique, M Shakil, Shaheen Mia and M Anwar, who were arrested after several raids in Dhaka and Gazipur area from 8:00pm on Thursday.

The armed robbers looted cash and other valuables worth Tk 320,000 and a licensed rifle from the house of Zahur Ali Pathan at Rajab Ali Sarder Road in Muradpur area.

While leaving the scene, they exploded cocktails, injuring a police sub-inspector, Nurul Huda, and a rickshawpuller.

Police recovered the rifle, some ornaments, two mobile telephone sets and few other valuables looted from Pathan's house during raids in Shyampur, Dania, Demra, Gobindapur, Tongi and Board Bazar. They also seized four `chapatis' (machetes) used in the robbery on Thursday.
