Pvt varsities to reach desired level soon
He expressed the hope when an eight-member delegation of Bangladesh Private University Association, led by its convenor Commodore (Retd) MA Rahman, called on him at Bangabhaban.
During the meeting, the delegation apprised the President of some problems of the private universities.
They requested the President to include their representatives in the initiative of amending the Private University Act of 1992 and 1998.
Iajuddin, also the chancellor of universities, assured them of necessary cooperation.
The Private University Act of 1992 was enacted to meet the needs of the time, he said, adding that the tendency to go abroad for higher studies has declined with the launching of private universities.
The delegation included co-convenor of the Association Abul Kashem Haider, members KBM Main Uddin Chisti, Ahsanul Islam, Sabur Khan, Morshedul Islam, Anhar A Chowdhury and MA Sadeq.
