French journo gets bail
A foreign documentary film-maker, who was arrested by the BDR while entering Bangladesh from India crossing the border illegally at Bhomra on April 14, was granted bail by a magistrate here yesterday.
Court sources said the French national Manda Garan, 55, who was produced before the court of Magistrate M I Siddique, prayed bail for himself and the court granted it.
Manda Garan came to Bangladesh on February 26 on a six-month entry visa and went to India on February 28 after crossing the Benapole border illegally as Indian government denied him visa.
When contacted, he told the local journalists that he went to India for making a film on Babri Mosque demolition by the Hindu bigots in Ayoddha in 1992.
