Journalist leaders reiterate demand for 6th Wage Board Award

Speaking at the annual general meeting of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) at the National Press Club, they said the government has taken no initiative in this regard even two months after its assurance of forming the board.

Expressing concern over the threats on the journalists, Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) President Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury said journalism has become the most risky profession in the country today.

He said the journalists are becoming the targets of the criminals and this will seriously hamper their movement for press freedom.

The BFUJ president also called upon the members of the two journalist unions to be united in a bid to establish their rights.

Journalist leaders Manzoorul Ahsan Bulbul, Ruhul Amin Gazi, Elahi Newaz Khan Sazu, and Shah Alamgir also spoke.
