Review meet on Aids prevention project

An annual review meeting on the project 'Prevention of HIV/Aids among young people in Bangladesh' was held in the city on Sunday, says a press release.

The Save the Children-USA and implementing partners of the project organised the meeting to mark the end of Year-1, with AFM Sarwar Kamal, secretary of the health ministry, as the Chief Guest.

Additional director general of Health Services, line director of National Aids/STD programme (NASP), joint secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, chief of planning, Ministry of Education, CCM members and representatives from USAID, DFID, UNAIDS, Unicef and implementing partners attend the meeting.

Sarwar Kamal expressed his satisfaction about the progress of the project achieved so far.

The health & family welfare ministry received a fund from the Global Fund to Fight Aids, Tuberculosis & Malaria (GFATM) to implement the project.

The project aims to ensure that young people have the knowledge, skills and services that they need to protect themselves from HIV/Aids.

The Save the Children-USA, a management agency, is working with NGO/private sector partners to implement the project.
