FFs' human chain from Kushtia to Mujibnagar

Bangladesh Muktijoddha Oikya Parishad organised the programme. The freedom fighters came from different southwestern districts, including Kushtia, Jhenidah, Magura, Chuadanga, Meherpur, Rajbari, Faridpur, Pabna and other districts across the country.

The freedom fighters formed the chain displaying placards, festoons and banners to voice their demands.

They demanded the government to declare freedom fighters as 'national pride forces' and VIP-honoured; to pay Tk three lakh as a one time allowance as well as a regular allowance; to ensure strict accountability at every section of state; and their representation at the government development coordination and district law and order committee. The demands also included the formation of an impartial Muktijoddha Sangsad, five percent of seats in parliament for freedom fighters, a 30 percent quota in jobs and educational institutions for their children and at least 3-katha of government land for each of them.

The freedom fighters asked for an immediate fulfillment of their demands. They also sent letters to the president, prime minister, leader of the opposition, speaker and minister for freedom fighters affairs.
