Muggers stab one to death

He was identified as Kazi Shafiqul Islam alias Mithu, 30, a chemist of Bay-Fishing Corporation.

Mithu and his newly married wife were returning home from the sea beach when they fell victim to the attack at around 8:00pm, police and witnesses said.

Some unidentified miscreants stopped the newly wedded couple at Jhauban, several hundred yards off the shore, and snatched their belongings.

As Mithu tried to resist the muggers, he was stabbed by them critically.

Mithu was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where the doctors declared him dead.

Son of Kazi Bashir Uddin, a resident of 29, Jamal Khan Road, Mithu got married on February 12 this year.

The victim's brother Kazi Nurul Islam filed a case with the Patenga Police Station in this connection.

None was arrested as of filing this report yesterday afternoon.
