120MT rotten wheat seized at Benapole

Sources at the customs house said Saletin Brothers, a private firm of Khulna, imported the uneatable wheat loaded in six trucks through Bhomra land port in Satkhira.

Clearing and forwarding (C&F) agent Rupali Agency took delivery of the wheat, which was being taken to Khulna in seven Bangladeshi trucks.

Tipped off, an assistant commissioner of Benapole customs house rushed to Bhomra and brought back the loaded trucks to Benapole. The seized wheat was deposited at the customs godown.

The customs authorities lodged a case against the importer and Rupali Agency owned by Nazrul Islam.

A section of businessmen in connivance with some dishonest C&F agents are importing rotten rice and wheat from India through Benapole and Bhomra, sources mentioned.
