Razakers being rewarded

Razakers (collaborators of Pakistani Army in 1971) are now being rewarded with all kinds of state facilities while the freedom fighters are the most disadvantaged in the society, they said.

They said these while addressing a discussion organised by Bangla-desh Muktijhuddha Projanma marking the 84th birth anniversary of Bangbandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the Liberation War Museum premises in the city.

"Former president Ziaur Rahman paid tribute to Banga-bandhu as the Father of the Nation and never claimed himself as the proclaimer of the country's independence in place of Bangabandhu what now his followers are frequently doing," Major General (Retd) Subed Ali Bhuiyan, member of Awami League (AL) Advisory Committee, said.

"The government should not try to tarnish the image of the country by dishonouring Bangabandhu while the whole world pay tribute to him for his greatest contribution in achieving the independence," A Latif Khan, chairman of Bangladesh Mujibnagar Karmochari Sangsad, said.

Even 34 years after the independence, the dreams of the freedom fighters are yet to be materialised, Nurul Alam Babul, general secretary of Muktijhuddha Projanma aggrieved.

AL Presidium Member Dr Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir, AL Advisory Committee Member Major General (Retd) KM Safiulla (Bir Uttam), freedom fighter AKM Rahmatulla, Abul Kalam Azad and Muktijhuddha Projanma President Syed Jahidul Islam Milon also spoke at the discussion.
