Katka Tragedy Day observed

Classes remained suspended throughout the day in remembrance of the victims.

The day's programmes included hoisting of university flag half-mast, Qurankhwani, mourning rally, unfurling of the newly constructed memorial, milad mahfil and a condolence meeting.

Nine final year students of Architecture discipline of Khulna University and two second year students of the same discipline of BUET had drowned in the sea at Katka while on a picnic trip in the Sundarbans on March 13 last year.

The dead were identified as Arnaj Rifat Rupa, Kawser Ahmed, Mahmudur Rahman, Ashraf-uzzaman, Monadil Raihan Shuvo, Abdullah-el-Baki, Kazi Abdul Muyeed, Walid Touhidul Enam, Maksumul Aziz and two others from BUET.

Meanwhile, family members of the victims alleged that the persons responsible for the tragedy were yet to be brought to book.
