Meanwhile, tension was running high on the campus as Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), the student front of ruling BNP, and the combine organisations led by the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), student wing of the opposition Awami League, brought out processions and held rallies chanting slogans against each others' party chief.

A large number of JCD activists gathered at the Madhu's Canteen from the early morning to protest the strike at DU called by pro-opposition student organisations.

They staged rallies at the same time at the foot of Aparajeyo Bangla and in front of the Arts building.

Addressing the rally, BCL General Secretary Nazrul Islam Babu said questions have been leaking out one after another under the BNP-Jamaat regime. He said that the prime minister wants to appoint her party men in the administration breaking the tradition of BCS examinations.

JCD President Azizul Baree Helal blamed the opposition Awami League for creating anarchy across the country as well as in the educational institutions to focus the country across the globe as an unstable country.
