4 more graveyards to be set up in city

Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) will set up four new graveyards in the capital on 148.28 acres of land under the 'Mahanagar graveyard project' at an estimated cost of Tk 224.39 crore.

The project will be implemented as per instruction of Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, Mayor Sadeque Hossain Khoka told the news agency.

The government has undertaken this project on a priority basis in view of the increasing population of the city, he said.

DCC sources said the four graveyards would be developed in the adjacent areas of Hazaribag flood control embankment, in the areas behind the Mirpur Zoo, Aftabnagar triangle under Badda thana and Saidabad-Matuail area under Demra thana.
