On the way back to the capital, Arif and another friend Munna went to Meghla Parjatan Complex for a swim, he said, adding that

Munna managed to get the shore, but Arif drowned.

His body is yet to be recovered.

Amateur divers conducted the search as divers of the fire service and civil defence were not available, said the deputy commissioner.

He said the help of Chittagong Naval Headquarters might be sought.
