Ekushey Book Fair opens
An 11-day-long Ekushey Book Fair was kicked off at DC Hill Park in the port city yesterday with a call to build a prosperous country being imbued with the spirit of the Language Movement.
Prof Anupam Sen, a social scientist, inaugurated the fair releasing balloon and pigeon.
Speakers at the inaugural function hoped that the fair would uphold Bangalee culture along with the use of mother language in all spheres of life.
They said nobody has the right to intervene in someone's mother language. But the colonial ruler always did it across the globe that resulted extinction of a great deal of ethnic languages.
