JCD assaults 8 BCL men at JU

Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) activists assaulted eight Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) workers on the Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus yesterday as they requested the teachers not to take classes amid a daylong strike.

The BCL and five other opposition-backed student organisations enforced the strike in all educational institutions across the country yesterday to protest the Monday's bomb attack on a friendly debate competition on the Dhaka University campus.

The BCL activists Joni, Bappi, Rupam, Tarek, Pulok, Sajib, Habib and Chisti were assaulted in front of the university branch of Agrani Bank at around 1:00pm.

No classes and examinations were held as the attendance of teachers and students at different departments were very thin.

The BCL activists submitted a memorandum to the vice-chancellor demanding immediate action against the person responsible for the incident.
