New recruits stage sit-in at RU
The RU authorities recruited 546 employees last year that sparked off controversy.
They also laid siege to the administrative building for one hour to press home their demand.
Newly Recruited Employees' Interest Preservation Committee (NREIPC) convener Rafiqul Islam Sader yesterday announced that they would stage two-hour token hunger strike in front of the administrative building on February 10.
They also threatened an indefinite strike if their jobs were not confirmed immediately. They said that they would cut off electricity, telephone and water lines of the university officials.
Earlier, the employees held a rally with NREIPC convenor Rafiqul Islam Sadar in the chair.
"RU authorities always used us against the general students who were on movement for security," said Joint Convenor Akkas Ahmed.
When contacted pro-VC said their demands are under consideration.
