AL blames govt for Kibria's killing

The killing of Kibria is the part of a blueprint of the BNP-Jamaat government to stop the voices of democratic forces, eliminate pro-liberation axis and destroy communal harmony in order to establish religious extremism in the country, Jalil told the reporters while addressing a post-hartal briefing at AL Dhanmondi office in the city.

"Kibria's killing is not an isolated incident, but a sequel to the killings of Ivy Rahman and Ahsanullah Master MP," Jalil said.

He said the government is out to kill AL leaders and activists to eliminate pro-liberation forces, destroy religious harmony and violate human rights.

"They will continue to repress the opposition leaders and activists as they did during the second day of hartal, even journalists were not off-limits to their barbaric attack," the AL general secretary said.

The life and property of the people is not safe under the BNP-Jamaat regime, even MP's are being killed one after another, he added.

Jalil alleged that the government did not co-operate with the FBI and Interpol in the investigation of August 21 grenade attack on the life of AL President Sheikh Hasina.

He expressed his apprehension that the government would not conduct a proper investigation into the killing of Kibira and five others as it (government) did in the killings of Ahsanullah Master and Ivy Rahman.

"All these are nothing but eyewash to divert the attention of the people," he added.

Jalil demanded impartial investigation into all bomb blast incidents and killings starting from Udichi bomb blast.

The AL leader called on democracy-loving patriotic forces to be united to bailout people from the repression and torture of the fundamentalist government.

AL central leaders including former foreign minister Abdus Samad Azad, Tofail Ahmed, Suranjit Sen Gupta, Matia Chowdhury, Amir Hossain Amu and Advoctae Rahmat Ali were present on the occasion.
