Clash over Sand Quarry

Trishal JCD leader killed

A leader of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), student wing of the ruling BNP, was killed and 10 others were injured when two factions clashed over leasing out of sand quarry at Balipara in Trishal upazila here yesterday morning.

The victim was identified as Mustak Ahmed, 21, son of Abdul Hai, and general secretary of JCD Balipara union.

Police and locals said, the clash took place at 9.00am yesterday when a group of people equipped with sharp weapons led by Balipara union BNP President Abdus Sattar allegedy swooped on Mustak following a feud over leasing out of Sand Mohal (sand quarry) at Balipara.

Mustak was rushed to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) in a critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries at 12:30pm.

When contacted Trishal thana Sub-Inspector Mukshedul Momin, who visited the spot, told that the situation is under control. No case was lodged and none was arrested till filling of this report at 5.00pm.
