Youth stabbed to death in N'ganj

The dead, Anwar Hossain Bindu, 20, son of Kalachand Mia of Bholail village at Masdairpara, was an accused in six cases including rape and extortions.

Bindu's relatives claimed that he was a garment worker and he was killed by a gang of local criminals for protesting a rape incident in the area.

Bindu along with some local people rescued a girl from the hands of rapists from a house at Lichubagh in Deobhogh on Wednesday, they said.

Later at 9:30pm, the gang chased Bindu to a nearby pond at Masdair and stabbed him to death. Hearing his screaming, local people came to his rescue but retreated as the gang exploded about 40 bombs.

But the local people said Bindu was a member of the same gang and he extorted money from them. He came to the area before Eid. The gang is involved in extortion, drug peddling, violence against women and other criminal activities.

The gang members were locked into an altercation with Bindu on Tuesday night over the sharing of money they earned by selling hides of the sacrificial animals.

The local people suspected that Sumon along with his accomplices might have killed him following the feud.
