The death of a teacher due to alleged wrong treatment sparked off a violent protest by his students in the town yesterday.

Agitated students vandalised the Annesha Clinic in Mofiz Paglar intersection area where teacher Aktar Hossain was treated and put up a barricade in front of their school at Satmatha.

Aktar, a science teacher of Bogra Zila High School, was admitted to Annesha Clinic on December 28 and later he was shifted to Sharmin Clinc on January 6. He came back home on January 11 after he was cured, but he became sick again on January 15.

When he was taken to Shamsunnahar Clinic, doctors advised his family to take him to Dhaka. Accordingly, he was admitted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital on January 16, but he died in the early hours of yesterday.

Hearing the death news, agitated students went on a rampage and damaged four rooms and furniture of a ward at the Annesha Clinic. They also put up a barricade at Satmatha.

Later, police clubbed the students to bring the situation under control.
