Sylhet JCD activist beaten to death
Informed sources said Khasru Miah, 28, a JCD activist and a poultry businessman, boarded the minibus at Ramdha Bazar at about 9:am to go to Golapganj upazila headquarters.
As the bus was making unnecessary delay at unscheduled stoppages to collect passengers, Khasru along with some other passengers, protested it and asked the driver not to do so.
They also had an altercation with the driver and conductors who became furious at this.
At one stage, Badrul Haque Nizam, driver of another minibus who was sitting on the side of the driver, threatened Khasru with serious consequences.
Accordingly, when Khasru got down at Golapganj, Badrul caught and beat him mercilessly.
He also pushed him under the wheels of the standing vehicle by which they had traveled.
The driver then drove the bus over him who died instantly.
The agitated pedestrians caught Badrul and handed him over to the police.
They also put a barricade on the road for half an hour.
Filing of a case was under process, said a police official.
