8 killed daily last yr
CAB report says
On an average 8 people were killed everyday in road and river accidents last year, the annual report of Consumers Association of Bangladesh (Cab) said yesterday.
A total of 2381 people were killed and 9410 injured in 798 road accidents last year, report said.
One hundred and ninety-two others drowned and 303 were injured in 13 river accidents, the report said.
Lack of proper training, fake license and poor enforcement of laws were main reasons for the accidents.
The report suggested the government to take immediate measures to reduce the number of road and river accidents, fix reasonable fare of transports and give compensation to the affected people.
