PBCP cadre Joy shown arrested

Joy,30, is now in Khulna district jail.

The miscreants threw grenade on Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Mayor Shaikh Tayebur Rahman on February 29 last year while he was returning home by his official car after attending a function at the United Club at KD Ghose Road in the city.

Mayor survived the attempt on his life as the grenade did not explode.

Police arrested Joy, a cadre of Purbo Bangla Communist Party (PBCP-ML), in May from Dhaka on the basis of a hand-written letter mailed to Khulna thana officer-in-charge (OC) claiming responsibility for the grenade attack on Tayebur.
